You know, those statements I made a couple of days ago about blogging and emailing? Hehe, well, it's the funniest thing. You know how I said that my son had been pretty easy to handle? Yeah, well, that was before he turned into
THE COLICKY DEMON-BEAST FROM HELL!!!!!!!!!!
Seriously, is there a more heart-stopping sound than a baby--especially YOUR baby--crying like a banshee monkey in need of a root canal, earnestly throwing his all into a vocal showcase worthy of Ethel Merman, and you can't do a darn thing about it? That's been the Dunn household for the last few days. Thank God for Gripe Water, Alimentum, Mylicon, and a mother's and grandmother's soothing ability. (Of course I tried. And of course I failed. When he's old enough to jam his index finger playing catch is when I'll be in the "Daddy comforting sweet spot.") We're actually getting a little rest. But the blogging and emailing, they no work. Maybe this weekend. Sorry.
In the meantime, howzabout a link to some spiffy old Warner Bros. cartoons? Whoever Dynotuber is, he/she has excellent taste in cels.

Oh, how I feel for you. My first was colicky and I remember how frustrating it could be to not be able to make them feel better. The best advice I got was from my pediatrician who said it was just an immature nervous system and that one day the screaming would just stop and it did, at about 14 weeks. In the meantime I just learned to pace with her and softly bounce as I walked. The bonus was I lost the baby weight faster! Good luck!

I'm so sorry for mentioning colicky babies previously!! Like I said before--check his formula. Not all babies can tolerate cow's milk, take it from a mother of four soy milk babies!!

Sean has some excellent suggestions. Babies really like to keep you moving around as much as possible.
Our eldest, now a teen, liked to be held up to the bookcases when she got upset in her first few months. We would point out all the fascinating history books and mummy's collection of Victorian novels, and that usually confused her enough to quiet down for a bit.
It's better when they can smile at you, it really helps...Hang in there, it'll get better -

May I suggest snuggling the little person on your shoulder, then pacing back and forth about 500 times. Nomadic hummings convince them they are on the move with the tribe and are better off sleeping through the voyage.
Of course, back in the day, you could drive the car around the block 30 or 40 times, after gluing on that extra inside rearview mirror so you could see the backseat without throwing your neck out. But I understand these colicky babies have thus contributed to the green housegas effect and insane fuel prices so that isn't an option these days.
Just keep in mind that your own little critter's noise is genetically designed to bug you less than anybody else's little critter's noise, if that's any comfort.
Hang in there :-)
