At the top, the full-bore, in-your-face, "Don't you feel guilty for even thinking about doubting us?" method. I love the "Are they not competent witnesses?" line.
And what a list of afflictions. I suffer from gout, but thank goodness I've never had gravel.
On the bottom, you have the polar opposite: a sell so soft, it's not really a sell at all. Actually, I don't know exactly what's going on here. It could be an ad for a book listing what farmers buy, but then again, it could also be a lonely-hearts ad for farmers. I wonder if Mr. G. Herbert Potter ever had a bout of gravel.

Oh, the memories - one of my VERY favorite antique bottles found by my parents when we were kids was a Buffalo Lythia Water bottle my dad found. I remember him finding it - but not exactly where we were a the time of the hunt. I think my sister has it - hmmmph.

According to wikipedia: Lithia water is mineral water containing lithium salts. Lithia water can occur naturally in spring form. One example can be found in Ashland, Oregon's Lithia Park. The water is pumped to a fountain where hundreds of people come to drink it for of its supposed positive psychological effects.

Lithia--the feel good drug of that era! One dose and you don't care about anything anymore. Mother's little helper.
